Country White Gravy
ingredients
- 45g/3 tbsp butter
- 6 tbsp flour
- 3 cups whole milk/ oat milk
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cayenne
- 1 tsp thyme
- fresh ground pepper to taste
- freshly grated nutmeg (non-negotiable)
- fresh ground pepper to taste
- salt
- veg sausage / beef crumbles (I pref gardein ground be'f) (optional)
notes
easily make this vegan using oat butter + veg milk - I strongly rec oat milk or a combo of coconut + soy.
based on desired thickness, alter the amount of suggested milk added between step 2-3.
directions
melt butter in pan then add (optionally sifted) flour and combine. create a roux by combining/cooking at least 3 minutes.
slowly combine with milk and whisk, waiting for it to thicken before adding more milk. note that based on desired thickness, alter the amount of suggested milk.
add all spices and allow to continue to thicken, adding more milk if needed to achieve desired consistency.
add to your bisckies, chicken friend seitan, potates, drink by the gallon, etc and ofc -
